WiMAX
WiMAX- (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) bracNet is a member of the WiMAX Forum. WiMAX is a standard-based robust and reliable wireless technology designed to provide multiple E1 level bandwidth to businesses and home users. WiMAX establishes the conformance, interoperability and compatibility of fixed, portable and mobile IP-based broadband wireless products and services. WiMAX is excellent for a number of applications, including“last mile” broadband connections, hotspots, cellular backhaul and high speed enterprise connectivity. WiMAX wireless networks establish superior non-line-of-sight (NLOS) performance through built in quality of service and interference free licensed frequency. |

QOS
QOS-(Quality of Service) Mechanisms used with WiMAX to guarantee quality by giving realtime data priority over non-realtime data. QOS ensures great performance for inelastic services (i.e VTC, VOIP, Streaming Media etc.) that require a certain level of bandwidth to function witout delay, error, jitter, dropped packets and out of order delivery. |

CIR
CIR-(Committed Information Rate) This ensures 99.99% availability of service at the quoted rate. CIR evolved from the term CDR which is Committed Data Rate, CDR was used to fix a Committed bandwidth with the ISP to the enterperise. For example if the CDR is fixed at 1 / (1/4) then it means, 1 Mbit/s line is leased with the ISP, but at any given time the committed bandwidth should not fall below 1/4th Mbit/s. Also CDR is fixed on Normal and Peak value of the usage. CIR is used in similar fashion, not limiting to Data packets but also voice and non data packets. |
